The Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced CFD Engineer with a proven track record within a technology-based business environment. CFMS is an independent, not-for-profit specialist in digital engineering capability. As a trusted and neutral provider, our vision is to be the recognised, digital test bed for the design of high value engineering products and processes. The Company provides the opportunity and unique combination of infrastructure and skills to collaborate and explore new complex products throughout their lifecycle. We seek an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our team.
CFMS has been formed to develop and demonstrate new CFD and high-performance computing (HPC) technologies to end–user organisations. We work with companies who are experienced in the use of CFD and also those wanting to make greater use of simulation. We work closely with academics and technology suppliers to create and evaluate CFD and HPC solutions using our own state of the art cluster featuring both CPU and GPU units. We are keen to lower the barrier to entry for new organisations wanting to use CFD and provide an environment for experienced users to assess alternatives in addressing their (usually increasing) requirements.
The CFD Engineer should be able to clearly state technical CFD requirements for CFMS to address, and provide first-hand knowledge of the impact that such developments can make for the end user.
The right candidate will have a good fundamental understanding of CFD techniques, with either commercial or academic experience in applying CFD. They will have knowledge of standard theory, commercial and open source software. They will be able drive R&D projects as well as deliver commercially sensitive programs on time and on budget. They will be able to communicate with internal and external stakeholders and help all phases of a projects from customers/partners initial inquiry, to execution, support and final delivery, as well as producing papers and presenting at conferences.
