The Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS) will be hosting the IBM POWER8 System Discovery event on 20th May 2015 2015 between 11.30 - 14.00.
Taking place at Bristol and Bath Science Park, CFMS will share the results of the benchmarking and testing programme conducted on the IBM Power System S824L, which was assessed for readiness and utilisation in technical computing and HPC workload.
Released by IBM in April 2014, the POWER8 processor based portfolio is designed to accelerate big data insights and hybrid cloud deployment. IBM have partnered with Nvidia to launch systems based on the POWER8 processor, which includes Nvidia Tesla GPUs.
As a neutral and not-for-profit organisation, CFMS offers a Benchmarking & Testing service, which provides independent product validation and testing. Sam Paice, Chief Operating Officer, CFMS commented, “ The results from benchmarking and testing the IBM Power System S824L against the defined experimental plan are positive, interesting and insightful. We are looking forward to sharing these.”
The IBM POWER8 Discovery event commences with registration and lunch at 11.30, followed by a presentation of the results. To view the agenda and register for the event, click here. The Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS) is an independent, not-for-profit specialist in modelling and simulation. We support the UK delivery of new design methods and processes.
Through our development centre and state-of-the-art facility, we offer specialist skills, resource and access to best in class technologies to enable organisations to achieve significant advances in design processes.
At the heart of innovation, we bridge the gap between industry, academia and the research supply chain, facilitating collaboration, shaping the development agenda’s of industrial process users and capability suppliers.
As a trusted and neutral provider, our vision is to drive a revolution in engineering capability and design, working with organisations to reduce risk in the design phase, product development costs and time to market.
