CFMS to present at RAeS 2016 Applied Aerodynamics Conference

The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS) will be presenting at the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) biennial Applied Aerodynamics Research Conference and Exhibition, held at the At-Bristol Science Centre.

Taking place between 19th - 21st July 2016, The 2016 Royal Aeronautical Society biennial Applied Aerodynamics Research Conference will also mark the 150th anniversary of the formation of the RAeS. It will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of aspects of the advancement of the aerodynamic disciplines and their application through current research, nearer term conception and longer term design and operations.

Lead Technologist Jamil Appa for CFMS will be presenting ‘Enabling Large CFD Calculations with Online Post-processing’. Through Cloud HPC, the reality of virtually unlimited simulation capability is within reach, creating a new on-demand delivery model and enabling a new service-based engineering sector to develop. Large simulation tasks generate gigabytes and even terabytes of raw data can be viewed and analyzed remotely – including the production of local video and image files – while keeping the raw data “in the cloud”. The presentation incorporates a live demonstration - the remote creation of a simulation task, executing the parallel solver and producing results plus visualizing and post-processing the data.

The conference is targeted towards professionals including aerodynamics researchers, practitioners and programme managers from academia, industry and research establishments worldwide.

Sam Paice, Chief Operating Officer, CFMS commented, We are delighted to be presenting at the RAeS 2016 Applied Aerodynamics Research Conference, and to be able to demonstrate the benefits of cloud computing technology for Computational Fluid Dynamics calculations.”

Entrance to the 2016 Applied Aerodynamics Conference & Exhibition is open to RAeS Members and Non-Members. Admission pricing and delegate registration can be accessed here.
