Jamil Appa, Director and Co-Founder of Zenotech, a partner of CFMS, will be presenting at the Daresbury Machine Evaluation Workshop (MEW25) and HPC in Industry event, held on 2nd – 4th December 2014 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary, MEW is organised by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). The event takes place over the course of 3 days, which will see leading academics and computational scientists gather together. Further demonstrating the growth and interest in high performance computing, an additional day has been added to the 2014 event ‘HPC in Industry’ run by the STFC Hartree Centre and Scientific Computing World, consisting of presentations from commercial and industry users of HPC.
Jamil will be presenting ‘Winds of Change – the use of HPC within the wind energy engineering sector’. The topic covers the industrial use of HPC for wind turbine design, moving from traditional CFD blade design to building business cases through the modelling of the interaction between meso-scale weather and detailed wind farm scale installations. Jamil will also discuss the use of accelerators such as Xeon Phi, and the potential for cloud HPC-on-Demand. "HPC plays a pivotal role in enhancing innovation capability, stimulating societal and economic benefits. We're delighted to be presenting at the HPC industry day where we will share information about the value that can be achieved through HPC use", says Jamil.
Presentations from Jaguar Land Rover, ClusterVision, Mellanox, Cray, Ainslie Racing, Maxeler STFC and STFC Hartree will be delivered during the event. In addition to a series of presentations, the event includes an exhibition, which commences on 2nd December 2014. The HPC In Industry Day takes place on 4th December 2014.
