Five finalists throughout Europe have been selected for the prestigious 2014 ERCOFTAC (European Research Community on Flow and Turbulence and Combustion) da Vinci award, a platform for the most talented international PhD students and graduates to present research on flow, turbulence and combustion.
The annual ERCOFTAC da Vinci Award is taking place during the 2014 ERCOFTAC Autumn Festival over two days on 15-16 October at University of Rouen, France, where specialists within the field of applied fluid dynamics will gather to hear about the latest industry and research updates.
For the 2014 award, the five finalists are from Italy, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Sweden and Germany. Representing the UK is Duncan Hewitt studying at the University of Cambridge who will present ‘Convection in Porous Media, and Implications for CO2 Sequestration’.

The competition is judged by an international panel of distinguished industry judges. The winning candidate will receive the prize of 1,000 Euro’s and the opportunity to present their winning submission in full at the festival.
The ERCOFTAC Association promotes the joint efforts between research institutes and industry, with the objective of exchanging technical and scientific information concerning all aspects of flow, turbulence and combustion.
