The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS) will be hosting the ERCOFTAC (European Research Community On Flow Turbulence and Combustion) Annual Industry Day at Bristol and Bath Science Park.
Taking place on 30th July 2015, the event will bring together the UK flow, turbulence and combustion community to consider challenges of interest to industry and academia, with the objective of identifying opportunities for collaborative innovation. The theme and topic for the event is ‘Industrial state of the art and opportunities in fluid structure interaction’, which is a critical element in the design of engineering systems, principally in structures comprising of materials that are susceptible to fatigue.
The event will provide delegates with the opportunity to hear presentations from industry users and academics including Zenotech, Arup, University of Surrey, CD-Adapco, Alstom, ANSYS, NPL and Swansea University. “This is a great opportunity for the community to gather together, share new thinking and help drive innovation and performance levels within industry” , says David Standingford, Director and Co-Founder of Zenotech.
Sam Paice, Chief Operating Officer, CFMS, commented, “ We’re delighted to be hosting the ERCOFTAC Industry Day. This is a great opportunity for industry and academia to discuss common issues and develop potential new methods together.”
The ERCOFTAC Industry Day is a free one day event, held on 30th July between 9.30am and 4.30pm. Delegates are advised to register early and can view the agenda here.
The ERCOFTAC Association promotes the joint efforts between research institutes and industry, with the objective of exchanging technical and scientific information concerning all aspects of flow, turbulence and combustion. The European Research Community On Flow, Turbulence And Combustion (ERCOFTAC) was created in 1988 with the aim of promoting joint efforts of research institutes and industries who are active in all aspects of Flow, Turbulence and Combustion. With the objective of exchanging technical and scientific information concerning basic and applied research, and the development, validation and maintenance of numerical codes and databases, ERCOFTAC membership is open to all research groups from academic and government to industrial organisations worldwide.

The Centre for Modelling and Simulation (CFMS) is an independent, not-for-profit specialist in modelling and simulation. We support the UK delivery of new design methods and processes.
Through our development centre and state-of-the-art facility, we offer specialist skills, resource and access to best in class technologies to enable organisations to achieve significant advances in design processes.
At the heart of innovation, we bridge the gap between industry, academia and the research supply chain, facilitating collaboration, shaping the development agenda’s of industrial process users and capability suppliers.
As a trusted and neutral provider, our vision is to drive a revolution in engineering capability and design, working with organisations to reduce risk in the design phase, product development costs and time to market.
