Nathan Harper, Head of IT Systems at The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS) will be presenting at Computing Insight UK 2015, held on 8th and 9th December 2015 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
Organised by the Science & Technologies Facilities Council (STFC), Computing Insight is a new event for the UK, replacing the internationally renowned Machine Evaluation Workshop (MEW). The event takes place over two days where delegates will have the chance to hear about the latest developments in HPC, cloud and data analytics. Consisting of an exhibition and programme of user presentations and breakout sessions, a conference dinner will also take place on the evening of the first day.
Nathan will be presenting ‘Small steps or a giant leap - Keeping IT services abreast of new technology advances’ where he will present the challenges organisations face when considering technology implementations and impact upon business operations. The myriad of intertwining systems and cross-organisational requirements infers greater consideration than that of a simple swap out of vendor or software. Every year the pace accelerates, the gap between those who have already made the shift change and those who have not grows wider and harder to achieve. Taking small steps or a giant leap, Nathan will discuss key IT challenges and points to consider.
Sam Paice, Chief Operating Officer, CFMS commented, “In trying to keep up with vast technology introductions, it’s not surprising that many organisations choose to experiment and dip a toe in the water when considering technology implementations. At CFMS, we are able to offer a trusted, neutral environment that affords organisations the opportunity to experiment with new technologies removing the possibility of impacting business infrastructure. We’re delighted to be presenting at Computing Insight UK where we look forward to sharing our experiences.”
Presentations from Birmingham University, Cardiff University, Cambridge University, Durham University, Francis Crick Institute, IBM, Intel, Mellanox, NNL, Oxford University, Rolls-Royce, STFC, University of Edinburgh, York University will be delivered during the event.
