The Centre for Modelling & Simulation (CFMS) will be presenting at the British Hydro Association (BHA) 2016 Summer Forum and Exhibition, taking place at The Whitehouse Hotel, Telford, 23rd June 2016.
A popular, annual technical conference which showcases innovation and expertise for organisations involved in the hydropower sector, the event will see industry professionals from developers and manufacturers to service providers and consultants gather together. With changes to the support mechanisms announced by the government at the end of 2015, the event will provide an opportunity for delegates to celebrate achievements and discuss future challenges.
Presenting at the event, Steve Puetz, Business Development Manager, CFMS will be speaking about the benefits of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for the hydropower sector. Used to analyse waterflow for hydroelectrics, CFD simulations can enable the analysis and optimisation of channel designs, provide comparable data for business cases and reduce the impact of changes on prototype models. A short case study will be presented, highlighting how CFD technology was leveraged in waterflow analysis at a hydropower site.
Speakers already confirmed for the BHA event include the National Trust, Community Energy England, Natural Resources Wales, Snowdonia Hydro, The Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, Deepbridge Capital, Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers, Barn Energy and Professor Chris Binnie, FREng, previously chairman of the DECC Independent Engineering and Technical Advisory Committee.
Sam Paice, Chief Operating Officer, CFMS commented “This is an excellent opportunity for organisations to reflect on the hydropower sector, and learn about new technologies that may validate and enhance hydropower performance. We’re delighted to present at the conference.”
