Our Operational Resilience tool, developed in collaboration with Avanti West Coast, has been shortlisted in the Information, Data and Connectivity category at this year’s Collaborate to Innovate awards.
Drawing on our deep technical expertise and Avanti’s significant knowledge of the complexities of the rail network, we have produced a tool that supports Avanti in automating timetable planning activities during disruption, reducing the burden on planning teams and helping to minimise disruption, improving passenger experience.
When an unexpected disruption happens, train operating companies only have a matter of days to replan timetables and communicate these changes. The current approach is completely manual. The short notice of disruptions causes sudden changes and late communication to staff and passengers.
The tool advances capabilities in resilience planning, helping to speed up decision-making with better information and more visibility of all the options available. By digitalising and optimising short-term replanning processes, we’re freeing up planning teams to make the more complex, resource-intensive decisions and communicate changes to passengers with more notice.
Being shortlisted for this award highlights the power of innovation and collaboration; sharing specialist knowledge and utilising different skill sets produces results that open up new possibilities.
