Collaborative Space Data Centre

The Collaborative Space Data Centre (COSDAC) is a unique data centre and toolset designed to address critical gaps in and to meet the needs of Space and Advanced Systems Engineering applications. This first-of-a-kind data centre pilot for space innovations is co-funded by the UK Space Agency’s Space Cluster Infrastructure Fund and CFMS and will deliver data centre level compute to address Space Engineering challenges.


This pilot project looks to break down barriers in Space Engineering innovation by providing an environment for complex concept development, testing, digital prototyping, AI and intensive physics-based rending. It combines advanced CPUs, GPUs, simulation software, robots and other dedicated space hardware to fill an emerging gap in the industry.

So far, this project has engaged with various stakeholders from across the industry to understand the challenges faced and what is required to solve them. From here, the data centre has started to be constructed and utilised to solve these challenges. This has helped to improve global collaboration, leveraging the growing knowledge of the space industry.

Different organisations can access the data centre and work on projects together without risk to IP due to the infrastructure in place. This enables the sharing of knowledge and expertise to accelerate design and innovation in this space and fosters a culture of connectedness.
