Access to Robotics for the South West

The Greater South West Robotics Adoption Hub will support business across the Greater South West region, addressing a shared set of robotics challenges: inspection, maintenance, handling and transport. CFMS will join the hub to provide specialist capabilities, working alongside partners to support businesses in adopting robotics.

The 23 consortium partners will help regional organisations to realise the potential of robotics and automation, particularly for productivity, resilience and growth. The Hub will cover a range of robotics roles across multiple industries, connecting businesses, providing advisory support and showcasing robotics capabilities here in the region. Events will connect adopters, suppliers and enablers, inspiring appetite for robotics and increasing awareness of its benefits.

CFMS will provide specialist simulation capabilities. Through their existing simulation suite and with further novel development, they will create simulations for clients as well as providing strategic and technical contributions to the advisory board. Their unique high-performance compute facility provides an industrially secure environment for simulation, providing the confidence required for adoption in competitive markets.

The project has been funded by Innovate UK as part of the Robotics Adoption Programme with project partners providing further funding. The Robotics Adoption Hubs programme will establish up to eight hubs bringing together businesses, universities and industry partners to support greater adoption of robotics and automation technologies.

Dr Mark Woods, Chief Strategy Officer at CFMS said:

"Robotics adoption is critical to the UK's future growth and productivity. The Greater South West Robotics Adoption Hub will help businesses' complex adoption challenges get beyond TRL 7 and deliver real value. As a core delivery partner in the hub, CFMS is providing industrially secure, HPC-enabled simulation and digital modelling to de-risk complex adoption and demonstrate value, whilst also mentoring the next generation of researchers in key skills."
