2026 UK MOOSE Conference

Hosted by CFMS, in partnership with Idaho National Laboratory and UK Atomic Energy Authority.

Join us at this three day conference to learn and network with the UK MOOSE community, exploring the latest capability developments and industrial applications.

What if complex multi-physics simulations didn’t need to be prohibitively expensive?

What if your tools enabled rapid, iterative development of physics models as standard rather than waiting on vendor release schedules?

What if your tools could be natively run on everything from laptops to high performance compute at massive scale?

What if you could solve hypercomplex physics problems, making for a better understanding of systems and decision-making?

We believe that MOOSE has the potential to solve these challenges, enabling organisations to simulate highly complex multi-physics problems to meet their advanced design needs when traditional toolsets break down. We will be diving into recent technical advances in MOOSE, practical applications of using it to solve complex problems, how industries are using it to accelerate their workflows and what we can expect from MOOSE in the future.

Day 1 - Training

As the originators of MOOSE, we welcome Idaho National Laboratory to deliver this UK MOOSE training. This session will begin with introductory-level content and highlight new features within the framework. In the afternoon, the session will move to more advanced content, showing how MOOSE can be applied and leveraged for more complex simulations.

We encourage attendees of all levels of MOOSE experience to apply. The session is designed to be introductory for those who have never used MOOSE, a refresher for those who have and is a great opportunity to learn from other users in the community.

Day 2 - Advances with MOOSE

Join us for a day focused on innovations and advancements in MOOSE functionality and novel applications. Hear from early careers professionals who are developing further solutions using these tools. We will explore novel functionality of MOOSE, methods of accelerating workflows and industrial applications, coming together as a community to network, share experiences and learn from each other.

We will hear from PhD Students, post-docs, early careers researchers/engineers in industry and current students working with MOOSE. Talks will be on the below topics:

  • Novel functionality to extend the MOOSE framework
  • Methods of accelerating MOOSE-based workflows
  • Benchmarking MOOSE against other tools
  • Applications of MOOSE to solve industrial challenges.

We will also have a poster session, where researchers will have an opportunity to share the latest developments in MOOSE.

Day 3 - Industry Conference

Large complex system simulations are required as a part of design space exploration, with high fidelity multi-physics modelling becoming more of a requirement. Existing commercially available off-the-shelf tools (COTS) are increasingly unable to handle the accurate, tightly coupled simulations needed. MOOSE provides an open-source, parallel finite element framework, enabling these highly coupled, multi-physics simulations to be run.

Join us for Day 3 as we look to explore how MOOSE is being applied across industries to solve hypercomplex challenges. You’ll hear from organisations who have successfully adopted MOOSE, the challenges they faced, how adoption can be approached and the benefits it has brought.

Sessions will cover improving efficiency and design at speed, adoption and deployment of MOOSE into organisations, limitations of COTS tools for major projects, MOOSE as a way of driving productivity, and MOOSE at scale to solve hypercomplex problems.
