Engineering Computing Services
Industrially secure high performance compute to accelerate, develop and expand digital engineering
Our differentiators
We architect, own and control our Bristol-based data centre, designed to solve your challenges and accelerate the development of products with your engineering requirements in mind.
This capability sits at the centre of everything we do at CFMS. It allows us to run large-scale models, high-fidelity simulations and robotics applications, as well as exploring and developing the next generation of advanced engineering tools. We provide a managed IT solution for businesses to work together on engineering challenges where IP and export control are traditional blockers for collaboration.

How we use Engineering Computing Services

Enterprise Architecture
Understanding how IT hardware and the software that runs on it, how it’s architected, deployed and maintained in a real-world production system is critical to the success of modern engineering projects.

Flexible hardware for different engineering applications
Different engineering applications require different computing hardware in order to complete them efficiently. Our data centre is designed for this purpose, providing greater flexibility.

Common questions about Engineering Computing Services
We have architected our own data centre to support the engineering workflows we see most commonly across modelling, simulation, robotics and autonomous systems. We have hardware for a range of applications including GPUs for AI training and inferencing. You can view our factsheet here.
Security and quality are central to our organisation. We have ISO27001 and ISO9001 certifications, as well as Cyber Essentials. We have experience with setting up environments to different requirements.
Our data centre and IT stack is predominantly Linux based, although we can stand up Windows environments. We go for an automation first approach with technologies such as Terraform and Ansible.
There are many ways to engage with our Engineering Computing Services team. We offer GPU-enabled virtual desktop collaborative environments, fully-hosted and managed CI/CD Git repositories, pay on demand HPC simulation codes and pay on demand CPU & GPU core hours for modelling, simulation and machine learning training & inference. We also can act as your IT team, offering support and consultancy.
